Tea and Sympathy

Hello sweet friends ...
I've been closely following the news on hurricane Sandy ... and I confess to shedding tears as I took in the devastation. My heart goes out to all of you that have been affected. I have many blog friends out that way and one of my dearest friends ... someone I grew up with here in the UK ... lives in New Jersey
... I hope and pray you are all ok...

Wednesday as always is a new challenge at Papercraft Star and this week the challenge is
A Warm Beverage
This is your inspiration photo

I made a little card and gift for one of the ladies at church who is not feeling too well -
Why not grab a cup of your favourite beverage and relax for a moment whilst I show you ...

The beautiful tea cup and saucer image came from a notelet ... I just scanned it in

I used some of the Aida fabric which I frayed and stitched the image straight on to it with some sparkly lace either side ... The sentiment was computer generated
The butterflies are my favourite digital ones and you can see some Perfect Pearls both on the butterflies and the tea cup

The little bag was made much the same ... using the Aida fabric and a doily under the image
As you can see I added a little glassine bag with some speciality tea bags tucked inside

I know my team mates have made some lovely cards to inspire you ... So I hope you will take a minute to visit the Blog and join us this week

For those of you who celebrate Halloween ... I hope you have a wonderful time ...

Thank you so much for visiting today ...
Keeping you in my thoughts and my prayers

City Crafter Challenge

Hello and Good Morning to you
I really hope you are all safe and well ...
I know the east coast of the USA has severe weather conditions and my thoughts and prayers are with you all ...

Today at City Crafter we have the lovely Linda hosting for us and the challenge she has picked is
3+1=Cute
You must use 3 patterned papers and 1 solid colour on your project

This challenge was another great way to use up scraps ... I am loving anything with fish tail banners lately and can't stop using them ...

These were made with 2 different papers from Melissa Frances
My 3rd patterned paper is the dottie background ... (no idea where this is from)

... and the solid colour is a digital paper by Jen Allyson

We have a special month long Guest Designer starting this week at City Crafter... A lady many of you will already be familiar with ... the talented Lynnda Hosni ... so I hope you will pop over to see her project along with the rest of our DT.

Thanks to all of you who support our challenge ... every week we are thrilled to see your creations.

I hope you have a lovely day ... Thank you for your lovely comments and for stopping by today ...

Till soon

Word Art Wednesday

Happy Sunday to you!
It's wet and wild here and today is the Derby match between the two Liverpool football teams ...  A big day for football supporters.
My husband supports the Blues (Everton) and has already left for the match ... whilst I support the Reds (Liverpool) and will be listening to the commentary on the radio in the warmth ...

I've been using up scraps lately ... though I think if I created everyday for the next year just using my scraps ... I would still have some left! I made this card for Word art Wednesday ... The verse they gave this week is very thought provoking ... I know so many people who base their treasures on material things ... then they wonder why they are never satisfied ... never happy...

The weather here is making it hard for me to get decent photos so I hope you can make out the scraps of paper from Melissa Frances which I stitched together in a random sort of way

I cut some little leaves from burlap to go with the pretty flower from Wild Orchid Crafts

... And tucked a little hand cut silver heart in there too ...

I would also like to enter this card for the Moxie Fab World Stitch and Sewing Challenge  ...

I hear that a hurricane is making it's way along to the East Coast of America ... My friends out there I am thinking of you and praying you will all be safe ... Take care

Till soon

More gifts

Hi there!
Thanks so much for your sweet comments and advise on how to treat this cold / flu ... I am feeling much better ... just need to get rid of this cough ...

I've been kept busy with some DT work and all I have to share today is a couple of gifts I made for a friend ... to go with This birthday card

It can be quite therapeutic making these bracelets ... This one doesn't have any handmade beads ... I have a big jar where I keep beads ... some are from old or broken jewellery ... some are new pieces that I buy now and then ...

The necklace looks much nicer in real life ... it has glitter in which is hard to capture

I made a couple of boxes to put these in using the same digital paper that I used on the card ... I printed it directly onto card stock

I'm afraid my photos are not very good on these due to the weather we were having ...
Today it is a lovely bright and crisp Autumn day ... though we are expecting freezing temperatures in the next few days ...

Have a beautiful weekend my friends and thanks so much for visiting me

Till soon

Halloween Witches

Halloween  is almost upon us ...
Here in the UK the stores are full of squealing witches and ghoulish delights
I'm thinking of conjuring up a spell to get rid of this awful cold ... anyone know of one?

At Papercraft Star today our challenge to you is Halloween Witches ... they can be spooky or sweet ... your choice ...

I made a treat box - ready for when those little witches come knocking on my door ...

Those cat food boxes are really sturdy and come in so handy ... As you can see ... I went for a cute witch

Both my images are freebies from the web and I gave my little witch a coating of glitter on her dress ...

I covered the box first with some pumpkin covered DP and black shiny card stock ... but my glittery frame and stars kind of hide the paper ...

... And mt favourite little witch ... The cat!
I'm sure that's my cat!

I'm looking forward to seeing what you all come up with this week ... Then it will be another year before those witches come out to play ...
Please take a moment to visit the blog to see all the witchy creations our DT have in store for you ...

Have a beautiful day

City Crafter ... Make Over

Hello ...
It's Tuesday again and it's time for another new challenge at City Crafter ... where were you all last week? Maybe like me you were sick ... or just busy with life ...

I hope you will be able to play along with us this week ... Kirsty is our lovely Hostess today and she is asking that we take a project we previously created ... and give it a Make Over
You need to show your original as well as the New creation on your blog post too

The DT have some lovely samples to inspire you and our Guest Designer this week is the lovely Barbara Daines - Glitterati who hails from the UK like me! Barbara won our challenge on week 125 with her beautiful monochromatic card ...

I chose a card I made way back when for one of CCCB challenges ... This is the original

It was a sketch challenge
This is the New version

Less fussy and more up to date

Using my Favourite stamp again

We are looking forward to seeing your make overs ... You are all so very creative

Thanks for stopping by ... I hope you have a lovely day

Coughs Colds and Cats

Hello ...
No, I'm not better ... well maybe a little better than I was ... I just couldn't keep away ... I discharged myself from bed yesterday afternoon and came into my room to create something ...

Just a little card for Jingle Belles where the prompt is a Creature Feature

I love these little cats ... I cut them on the Cameo ...  they're supposed to be eyeing up that jingle bell hanging from the holly (Papermania Urban Stamps)

Some not so 'perfect pearls' ... I managed to smudge them

... but I'm happy with the end result

I also got some 'Happy Mail' yesterday ... It couldn't have come at a better time ... made me feel good to know someone was thinking about me

This came from the lovely Jacqueline ... Isn't that card just the sweetest?
"Thank You" so much Jacqueline ... they're beautiful and your kindness is appreciated

This next envelope came from my sweet friend Cindy ...

My first Christmas card/gift ... look at the sticker

Thank you so much Cindy!!
I can hardly wait to see what is inside ... but it's the thought that really makes me smile

Thanks to you all for your well wishes ... Have a lovely Sunday

Melissa Frances

Hi there ...
I am really feeling rough ... and may be MIA for a while .... But I have some lovely news to share which has brightened me up no end ...
This little wall hanging, I made way back when, is being featured on the Melissa Frances Blog today!!

I am so thrilled!
The original post is Here if you want to check it out ...

As it happens I had planned for my Thursday group make a wall hanging last night using those lovely dies from Nina Brackett ... I cut out 25 of those houses, 25 sets of wings ... 25 hearts... not to mention countless butterflies, backgrounds, flowers and clouds ... Alas I was too sick to make it

Have a lovely day and thanks for stopping by

Halloween Pumkin

Hello sweet blog friends
Whoa it's been cold and wet here ... more winter now than autumn!

It's not far off Halloween and this week at Papercraft Star our challenge is to create a card or project with a Halloween Pumpkin on
We had some fantastic entries last week ... so I have no doubt that this week you will once again excel yourselves ...

I created a wall hanging ... which is already winging it's way to a blog friend who is none too well at the moment ...

I so loved making this ... using papers from Eline Huis and Basic Grey to cover my canvas first

... Put on a pretty gingham ribbon and then I took an unwanted CD ... I printed a free vintage halloween image (took out the background first using Photoshop) ... onto a free clock image from Here and glued the finished image to the CD

Some perfect pearls ... a bunch of leaves and glittery flower and some punched insects complete the look
I was going for cute rather than scary!

I hope you will visit the blog to check out the creations from the rest of our lovely Design Team ...

I am linking this up to the following challenges

Fanciful Pinwheels

Hello there ...
I hope all is well in your world ...
This week at City Crafter Challenge ... we have Charlene hosting for us
Char has chosen "Fanciful Pinwheels" You must use pinwheels and Halloween colours

I made a halloween banner ... which is quite hard to photograph in one go ... so there are lots of pictures of the details

I started off with some plain cream scalloped banners from Hobbycraft

... decorated each one with some free digitals from both Here and Here

cut some pinwheels and rosettes and mixed them up

Adding bits of tulle here and there and sparkly rhinestones

The papers are from various designers ... all from my supplies

I cut out circles to put the faces on and used rubons for the cats faces

My letters were cut on the cameo

Finally I punched holes and threaded some black ribbon through ... all ready to hang up!

Our Guest Designer this week is the very talented Lizzie Droege our winner for week 123 ...
Lizzie has the most romantic and pretty blog ... I'm sure you would enjoy a visit ...

I can't wait to see what Lizzie and the rest of the team have come up with so I'm off to the blog ...
I hope you can join us this week ... remember to use Pinwheels and Halloween colours ... I just know you will Wow us as always ...

I'm also linking this to The Hybrid Chick Challenge

Have a beautiful day!

Butterfly Wishes

Hello ... I hope you are having a good start to the weekend ...
We have sunshine today ... it's a crisps autumn day

A couple of my friends have been suffering with one thing or another ... so I made a card and gift for each of them to help cheer them up a little or at least let them know I am thinking of them ... One of them I can't show you yet ... It will be one of my DT projects in the upcoming weeks ... but this one I can ...

Butterfly Wishes

This is the card made with the lovely freebies again from Astrid ... that lady is so kind and talented
And can you see that little necklace? I have been wanting to make some of these for the longest time ... I used the same paper and as the butterflies are digital I was able to make a tiny one ... even if the cutting out was fiddly! I'm still trying to master how much glossy accent to use not to get bubbles between the glass but as this is only an inch in size you don't see them with the naked eye

I made a little something to put that necklace in ... A matching little bag using some of the aida fabric I used on the card

The ribbon unties to open the bag

I get so much out of making gifts for people ... I'll show you a couple more soon

I'm linking these up to the following challenges

Have a beautiful weekend ... Thanks so much for stopping by

Till soon

Happy Birthday Linda!!

City Crafter are doing a special post today ... I hope you hop on over and leave some wishes for Linda ... I just know she will be thrilled!
I also hope that she got my card and gifts ....

I put a few things in the package for her ... but I'll just show you this one

I made the beads with the same paper as the card
